These KGE Premium Oboe reeds were selected for their intonation, articulation, tone and the quality of their finish.  They use the same quality cane as all KGE reeds; the difference with the premium range of reeds is the higher density of the cane which makes the reed more resistant.  Because of this, these reeds deserve a good soak to get them started and do require some playing in.  A popular, long lasting and stable reed.

Please note: we are unable to request specific staples from KGE. However if you have a preference for #1-47 or #2-47 staples, please specify this in the comments section of your purchase.  Although we can’t guarantee, we will do what we can to find the size staple requested.

KGE Student Range

• Student Intermediate – softest density cane most suitable for beginners
• Student Artist – a more resistant cane than the Student Intermediate model, suitable for players who like a little more resistance to ‘push’ against

KGE Premium Range

• Standard – The cane used for these reeds is more resistant than that used for the Student Range but less resistant than the Professional
• Professional – the hardest density cane used by KGE.  These reeds will suit a player who prefers a reed with the most resistance in the KGE range
