Description
Hand made by Chiarugi in Italy, with an African ebony wood handle, this reed file is perfect for hand finishing your reeds.
This beautiful tool has such a cross-hatch etched into the steel that serves two functions. One is to gently file the reed, taking only small quantities of cane away, resulting in a beautiful clean and smooth finish. The other is to hold the filed cane on the file, not on your reed, so the filings don’t clog the pores of your reed. Clear smooth cane viabrates more freely, giving a better, clearer sound. When you use a reed file instead of sandpaper, you are protecting the longevity of your reed. The teeth of the reed file can be cleared of cane with a gentle brush or wipe.
Say goodbye to cutting little squares of sandpaper, and using your finger as a sanding block, this tool is the answer!
Using a reed file is gentle on the reed compared to a reed knife and is a good place to start on your reed adjusting journey.
