Made by Georg Rieger in Germany, this high-quality Reed Tip Cutter is available in two Options;

Oboe Version:  Perfectly engineered to trim Oboe, Baroque Oboe and Cor Anglais reeds.

Bassoon Version:  Sized for Bassoon,  Contrabassoon and Baroque bassoon reeds.

The tip cutter works by placing your reed into the specially machined reed-holding section of the tool, where it will rest securely.  In the oboe version, the staple fits into the cup.  In the bassoon version, the reed slides onto the mandrel.  This section is adjustable so you can get the perfect length of cut.  As you pull the side lever towards you, the rotary blade neatly turns to gently and accurately nip microns from the tip of your reed.  For superior results, ensure your reed has been soaked for some time before making any adjustments including tip cutting.

The rotary blade is tucked into the turning shaft and is very safe for precious fingers!  All parts of the device can be removed for cleaning and sharpening.
