Description
This reed made by Rimpl, uses a Rieger 2 shape which has a wide throat, flatter construction and a larger blade. It is excellent for the middle and low notes. If you’re looking for an easy playing reed to help you move around easily on the low notes this is the reed for you!
This reed is not perfectly suited to play the high notes, but with the right support is can sing through the registers until the stratespheric range at high C and beyond. For most players having the extra 1mm in the blade makes playing and controlling notes so much easier! We recommend these reeds to students between 2 – 7 years of learning. For students struggling with getting the low E-Bb range, and struggling to move between notes in this range, this reed makes this so much easier!
Beyond this, these reeds are well suited to players at an advanced to professional level especially for reliably performing quiet low passages of Orchestral music. These reeds also have a generous warm sound, great tone and good dynamic control.

My favourite reeds from my last bunch were the purple ones. I use them heaps on second chair bassoon in ensembles, really stable tuning and great round sonorous low notes.
